WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.20.31.

DARK SOLID COLORS
After enabling the Dark Theme in the 2.20.13 beta update, WhatsApp is working to improve it.
In this beta, WhatsApp has added Dark Solid Colors, available in the Wallpaper Settings.
The colors available are black, Dark Brown, Dark Navy, Dark Olive, Dark Purple and Dark Velvet:
If you select a dark solid color and you change the theme, WhatsApp will automatically change that dark solid color to a light one.
Note that in a previous beta update (2.20.29), WhatsApp has removed the Set By Battery Saver option on Android 9 and lower, to configure the theme.
